“I was a very industrial cattleman. I got disillusioned with that management style after twenty years… I saw the unintended consequences of those technologies and I didn’t like it. So I started moving away from it, and this is where we wound up.”
“We have driven so many species into extinction or near extinction, and that has a cost. We did it through farming with chemical fertilizer and pesticides... but the farmer nor the chemical fertilizer manufacturer nor the pesticide manufacturer covers that cost. The cost doesn't fall on the perpetrator. It falls on greater society. So no wonder they sell cheap shit. We're all paying the cost.”

Many of the biggest brands in the world have made regenerative agriculture commitments.
But what does that really mean…?
🌍 68 of the world’s largest CPG companies have made commitments to regenerative agriculture, covering a massive 40.5 million acres (CREO, 2023).
🔄 While 63% of CPG firms have made regenerative commitments, only a small fraction have the data and financial systems to truly support farmer transition (FAIRR Initiative, Sept 2023).
We’re aggregating all the most important research on big CPG commitments to regen ag in our new Research Hub.

Applegate surpassed its 2025 regenerative goal nine months early, transitioning all beef hot dogs to 100% certified regenerative beef and impacting over 10.8 million acres of grasslands.
The shift includes certification from leading organizations—Regenerative Organic Certified®, Land to Market, and Certified Humane® — ensuring high standards for animal welfare, soil health, and ecosystem restoration.
This move positions Applegate as a regenerative pioneer in the meat industry, using an everyday product — the hot dog — to drive large-scale agricultural change and inspire industry-wide transformation.

As major players like Diageo and Pernod Ricard begin pilot projects and map sustainable “terroirs,” it's clear the sector is starting to see regenerative farming not just as an ecological imperative, but as a business one too.
